Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1B

Round 15 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1B gets underway on Saturday afternoon as league leaders Old Wesley play host Naas at Energia Park.

Old Wesley enter the game off the back of a sterling run of form after knocking off both Highfield and Malone in back to back weeks, and Naas come in just two points off Highfield in second.

Old Wesley vs Naas, Energia Park

League leaders Old Wesley welcome third placed Naas to Energia Park in a crucial top of the table clash in Division 1B.

Naas come into the game full of confidence having won their last three matches, and will look to hand Old Wesley their second defeat of the season.

The hosts boast an unbeaten record at Energia Park in the 2021-22 campaign, and Naas have endured an inconsistent time on the road going 3-3 away from Forenaughts.

Highfield vs Malone, Woodleigh Park

Highfield will look to find their form once again as they face seventh placed Malone at Woodleigh Park.

The hosts struggled last weekend as scraped past Old Belvedere in a 22-20 win, while Malone produced a stunning display as they fell 29-34 to Old Wesley.

Highfield will be in desperate need of a bonus point win as they find themselves 12 points behind Old Wesley, after their embarrassing 30-3 loss at Energia Park two weeks ago.

City of Armagh vs St Mary’s College, Palace Grounds

St Mary’s College will look to regain their winning touch as they face City of Armagh at the Palace Grounds.

The visitors will look to halt an alarming losing run, which has seen them lose at Old Belvedere and at home to Shannon in back to back weeks.

While City of Armagh will look to end a losing run of their own. The hosts haven’t picked up a win since defeating Highfield 27-21 in January, and have fallen to sixth in the table.

Banbridge vs Navan, Rifle Park

Navan travel to Rifle Park to take on Banbridge in a clash between two strugglers.

Both teams enter the weekend after experiencing different fortunes last weekend. Navan edged City of Armagh at home, while Banbridge lost 43-21 away at Naas.

Old Belvedere vs Shannon, Ollie Campbell Park

Shannon head to Ollie Campbell Park to battle Old Belvedere.

Shannon produced a strong performance as they overpowered Old Belvedere in a 32-10 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
