Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Round 15  of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A gets underway on Saturday afternoon, as Clontarf face off with Terenure College in a crucial clash at Castle Avenue. 

Clontarf enter the game having defeated second placed Lansdowne 14-23 in Dublin, and has lost just one game all season. While Terenure College enter as the hottest team in the competition. 

Clontarf vs Terenure College, Castle Avenue 

League leaders Clontarf welcome high-flying Terenure College to Castle Avenue in Division 1A. 

There is a lot at stake at Castle Avenue as Clontarf look to end Terenure College’s extraordinary 10-game winning run, and the red hot visitors look to overtake Lansdowne in second. 

Clontarf head into this match having won 13 of their 14 games this season, and Terenure College haven’t tasted defeat since October. Something will have to give as the two juggernauts square off. 

Young Munster vs Lansdowne, Tom Clifford Park 

Lansdowne will look to rebound from their defeat to Clontarf last Friday as they travel to Tom Clifford Park to take on Lansdowne.

The two teams played out a thriller the last time the two teams met, as Young Munster produced a strong performance to shock Lansdowne 20-24 at Aviva Stadium. 

Lansdowne are in desperate need of a win as last Friday’s loss to Clontarf left them nine points off the leaders.

Dublin University vs Cork Constitution, College Park

Cork Constitution head to College Park as they take on Dublin University. 

Cork Constitution will be looking to build off last weekend’s win over Garryowen, while Dublin University will be looking to rebound from their 36-15 loss to Terenure College.

UCC vs UCD, The Mardyke

Eighth placed UCD travel to The Mardyke to take on bottom of the table UCC. 

UCD will look to go three games unbeaten after defeating Ballynahinch 9-19 last time out, and drawing to Cork Constitution in a 31-31 thriller.

Garryowen vs Ballynahinch, Dooradoyle 

Ballynahinch head to Dooradoyle as they battle Garryowen.

The two teams played out a thrilling encounter early in the season as Garryowen edged Ballynahinch 22-27 at Ballymacarn Park.
