Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Just one team remains unbeaten as the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A returns this weekend, with five more enthralling matches.

Young Munster lead the way after five wins from five but have teams hot on their heels in this mighty competitive division.

Lansdowne vs Dublin University, Friday 19th November, 7:30 PM, Referee: Eoghan Cross

At the Aviva Stadium, third place Lansdowne host seventh side Dublin University. Lansdowne have won four of their opening five games, scoring an impressive 128 points in the proves.

The students have struggled only winning two games thus far and will go into the game as underdogs.

Ballynahinch vs UCC, Saturday 20th November, 2:30 PM, Referee: Nigel Correll

At Ballymacarn Park, the two bottom sides go head-to-head, with both sides winless going into round six of the season. Something must give, with the home sides’ attack yet to get into gear, after scoring a league low 62 points this term.

For the visitors, conceding points has been their main issue with UCC conceding a league high 159 points.

Cork Constitution vs UCD, Saturday 20th November, 2:30 PM, Referee: Dermot Blake

In a mid-table affair at Temple Hill, fifth place Cork host sixth spot UCD, with both sides on two wins from their opening five games.

The two teams have scored the same number of points and it looks to be a close contest between two evenly matched teams.

Terenure College vs Garryowen, Saturday 20th November, 2:30 PM, Referee: Peter Martin

At Lakelands Park, eighth place Terenure College host high-flying Garryowen in what could be a difficult afternoon for the hosts.

The visitors have scored the most points in the division – 141 points, therefore go into the game as heavy favourites.

Young Munster vs Clontarf, Saturday 20th November, 2:30 PM, Referee: Andrew Cole

Table topping Young Munster host Clontarf, with their sights firmly set on extending their near perfect start to the season.

Young Munster’s watertight defence has been the key to their success with them conceding a league low – 60 points.

Clontarf have also started the season well and are in fourth place after four wins from five, therefore this should be the game of the round.
