AIL Preview: Division 2C Week 6

The action continues in 2C this weekend with Instonians looking to remain unbeaten in six ties, while Skerries and Tullamore look to continue the pursuit of the league leaders.

Ballina V Clonmel, Sat November 12th, Heffernan Park, 2:30pm

Bottom placed Ballina are still chasing their first win of the year, they meet seventh placed Clonmel this weekend, they are brimming with confidence after defeating Bangor last weekend.

Ballina left Shannonside with another loss to their record last weekend, having been in the tie at half time just 14-7 down, the second was all Bruff coming out 43-12 winners, the hosts need to pick themselves up ahead of this tie.

Clonmel were fully deserving of their bonus point win over Bangor last weekend, a huge scalp for them as it was just a second win in the competition for them this season, victory over the bottom side would keep them on an upward trajectory in the table.

Bangor V Midleton, Sat November 12th, Upritchard Park, 2:30pm

After defeat last weekend Bangor look to keep their spot in the top four of 2C, when they play host to Midleton.

Bangor looked the title rival to Instonians early on, but have slumped in recent weeks moving down to fourth after last weekend’s result.

Instonians V Bruff, Sat November 12th, Shaws Bridge, 2:30pm

Bruff will look to do what no side has managed to do this year and defeat Instonains this weekend, as they make the trip to Shaws Bridge to meet the leaders.

The hosts made it five from five with another bonus point win over Sundays Well last time out, they look unstoppable as their firepower is the best in the division, the third highest across the men’s AIL.

Victory at the weekend was the second of the year for the Shannonsiders, they can very well use that momentum to test Instonians as they want to compete with the top clubs.

Skerries V Omagh Academicals, Sat November 12th, Holmpatrick, 2:30pm

Skerries look to continue their unbeaten run in the league at home to Omagh Academicals, as both are in the top half of the table.

The hosts started as they meant to go on away to Midleton at the weekend, they notched two converted tries in the opening half and never looked like surrendering the lead, Omagh will be another big test for them.

Accies struggled against the team just above Skerries in the form of Tullamore at the weekend, it was tight in the opening half but they failed to hold onto the game in the second half, that may not be a good sign against a team like Skerries.

Tullamore V Sundays Well, Sat November 12th, Spollanstown, 2:30pm

Tullamore will loom for a similar result to the side sat below them against Sundays Well, as they look to hang onto second and claw back the league leaders.

Claiming their fourth win of the season last Saturday, they hope to continue the form against the team sat ninth in the table.

Well’s only win of the year came against Ballina at Musgrave Park, it could be another loss to add to their losing streak if they let Tullamore control the game early.
