AIL Preview: Division 2B Week 6

2B remains as competitive as always with three teams in the top five level on points, Greystones look to keep their hold on top spot and remain unbeaten this weekend.

Dungannon V Galway Corinthians, Sat November 12th, Stevenson Park, 2:30pm

A huge tie at the summit of 2B as third hosts second, with both looking to keep going if Greystones were to slip up.

Dungannon slipped to third place after a 31-27 defeat at Malahide, a huge scalp for them as Dungannon surrendered their lead and struggled to take it back, they do not want to afford another loss this weekend.

Corinthians looked the part as they defeated Enniscorthy at the weekend, they were in top form and will bring the league’s most potent attack, however their defence is the third worst in the league, they may be susceptible to conceding this weekend.

Enniscorthy V Belfast Harlequins, Sat November 12th, Alcast Park, 2:30pm

Belfast Harlequins will aim to get back into the top four as they make a long trip to Wexford to meet bottom side Enniscorthy.

Scorthy had their fifth straight defeat in the league last weekend having been heavily beaten by Corinthians 43-10, they need a win to gain form and against Harlies it looks likely a sixth loss is in the cards.

Harlequins are not a team in form at the moment so there is a chance of Scorthy claiming a scalp, defeat to Greystones and a draw with Wanderers thanks to a late roll of the dice as they managed an equalising try at the death, they have moved down to fifth and will look for maxim points this weekend to re find their feet.

Galwegians V Malahide, Sat November 12th, Crowley Park, 2:30pm

After their impressive scalp over Dungannon last weekend, Malahiude will look for a second win in a row away at ninth placed Galwegians.

Wegians were second best to Rainey Old Boys for large parts last weekend, they were down by four at halftime but never stayed with their opponents as they crumbled in the second half to lose 26-15, Wegians will hope to claw back Sligo sat just above them in eight with four points between them.

Malahiude came back from the brink to shock Dungannon last weekend, they worked that second half well to take scores and also hold their nerve late on to seal the win as Dungannon kept the pressure on.

Greystones V Rainey Old Boys, Sat November 12th, Dr Hickey Park, 2:30pm

Greystones looked to extend their unbeaten streak to six games as they face a tough challenge in the form of Rainey Old Boys.

Greystones have been tough and shown real character in their performance to date in the division, five from five with three bonus points, they never looked in doubt against Sligo last weekend as very few teams have made them sweat.

Rainey have moved up to fourth in the table and will eye Greystones as a game they want to make a statement of intent in, they have a strong chance of getting a result based on their last few weekends, but Greystones are a top notch side, this will be the game of the weekend in 2B.

Wanderers V Sligo, Sat November 12th, Merrion Road, 2:30pm

Wanderers could well put their name into the hat and challenge those above if they can get points against a struggling Sligo.

Wanderers looked to have gotten their third win of the season last weekend, but it was not to be, this time around they will look to get one against a Sligo team struggling after three results in a row that were unfavourable on their part.

Sligo need a result here to ease a potential relegation battle and put some confidence back, they struggled against Greystones, they battled well but ended up conceding late to Galwegians add the late defeat to Rainey, they need some spark to make them able to get a positive result.
