AIL Preview: Division 2B Week 5

Greystones have a three-point lead at the summit, with Dungannon and Belfast Harlequins both close behind, 2B remains very hard to call as to who finishes top.

Belfast Harlequins V Wanderers, Sat November 5th, Deramore Park, 2:30pm

Belfast Harlequins will hope to regain second spot in the table, when they play host to Wanders who gained ground in the table last time out.

In the big clash of the top two last weekend, Harlequins were unable to put Greystones to the test as they did not register a score in the 14-0 loss, they will hope to turn around their fortunes this weekend.

Wanderers stormed to a 35-5 lead at the break against Corenthians but were left sweating by the end og the half as they only won by four in the end, another collapse this weekend against Harlequins could prove costly.

Galway Corinthians V Enniscorthy, Sat November 5th, Corinthian Park, 2:30pm

Corinthians fell just short last time out of leaving with a potential win, this time around they take on bottom of the table Enniscorthy in a game they will hope to control.

They came back from the dead against Wanderers some extra time in the tie and who knows what could have happened, they will aim to replicate that this weekend.

Scorthy had the opposite result last weekend as they fell to defeat after a strong second half saw them on the losing side against Dungannon, their woes at the bottom of the table could be furthered this weekend.

Malahide V Dungannon, Sat November 5th, Estuary Road, 2:30pm

Dungannon jumped to second last weekend and will hope for a third win in a row if they can leave Malahide with the points.

Malahide were beaten in the first half last weekend, unable to come up with anything in the second they were beaten well by Rainey in the end, victory could see them climb back up the table after losing more ground last time out.

Dungannon had the second half advantage count against Scorthy, they will need to iron out that opening half showing if they aim to command ties, this weekend could be one they will control from the off.

Rainey Old Boys V Galwegians, Sat November 5th, Hatrick Park, 2:30pm

A win for Rainey over Galwegians could have them in the top four by Saturday evening.

Rainey sit in fifth after another strong showing last weekend, the second half of very little gave them the chance to not concede any points to their record, one now healthy at +15, they have a chance if results elsewhere are favourable.

Wegians rose off the bottom after their last gasp draw with Sligo last weekend, the 78th minute try under the posts doubling their points haul for the season, this game may be another they can get points if they are complacent enough.

Sligo V Greystones, Sat November 5th, Hamilton Park (Strandhill), 2:30pm

The unbeaten league leaders travel to meet a Sligo team unable to catch a break, after having both of their last two games go against them late on.

It was tit for tat between Sligo and Wegians last weekend but the hosts had pulled clear before being brought back at the death, they cannot afford many mistakes against Greystones.

The Wicklow natives will bid to leave the West with the points and keep the unbeaten streak alive, they were powerful again last time out with Matt O’Brien and Nick Doyle both scoring tries, they will have a tough encounter but if given room they will run riot.
