AIL Preview: Division 2B Week 16

Greystones and Galway Corinthians meet as their title fight heats up, while six teams remain in contention for promotion with no real front runner in sight.

Enniscorthy V Malahide, Sat 25th March, Alcast Park, 2:30pm

Enniscorthy will look to keep the chances of their survival alive as they host promotion chasing Malahide.

Scorthy will be seeking their fourth win of the season if they can record some form in this tie, they have won three of their last five ties and are three points behind Wegians, it is a must win for them.

Malahide sit seventh and are just two points behind Wanderers in fourth spot, they still have a chance to fight for promotion, when the two met earlier this season it finished in a 12-12 stalemate, Malahide need a win this time to keep their hopes alive in such a competitive division.

Galwegians V Belfast Harlequins, Sat 25th March, Crowley Park, 2:30pm

Galwegians are ten points away from automatic safety with just three games left in the season, they are out for points over Harlequins this weekend.

Wegians have limited time left to jump out of the bottom two before the season comes to a finish, they lost by 16 points when they met last time, two wins from five they need to pick up form once again.

For the Belfast side they too are locked in this competitive battle for top four, just a point is the difference between them and Wanderers, while a win could see them leapfrog Dungannon if both have a score scoreboard difference, every game now is a must win.

Greystones V Galway Corinthians, Sat 25th March, Dr Hickey Park, 2:30pm

Greystones saw their unbeaten record come to an end in round 15, now they have their nearest challenger for the crown to take on.

Confidence and composure will be key for Greystones this weekend as they hope to avoid back to back defeats, they had built a formidable record battling well and in turn have a nine point lead at the top, they can put that gap to bed with a win this weekend.

Corinthians have their eyes on the prize and to get it they have to go through their biggest challenge in the form of Greystones, they were heavily beaten when they met earlier this season, the Galway side have lost their last three ties and now is the time to end that.

Rainey Old Boys V Sligo,  Sat 25th March, Hatrick Park, 2:30pm

Rainey slipped out of the top four last time out and look to bounce back, Sligo come to town and they also have a chance to make it to fourth spot.

With three defeats in a row, Rainey hope to pick up a win this weekend to keep their bid alive for a top four finish in the race for promotion, they beat Sligo with their final breath in October, they need the same this weekend.

Sligo still are within a chance of fourth spot but a win this weekend is vital to that, three off they are safe from the drop but can still compete for a chance in 2A, a win last time out may just spark a winning run to end the season off.

Wanderers V Dungannon,  Sat 25th March, Merrion Road, 2:30pm

A battle at the top half the second of this weekend’s action sees third travel to fourth.

Wanderers practically have the majority of the league beneath them all in contention to take their spot in the top four should they suffer defeat, the Chaps have a two game winning streak and look to make it three this weekend.

Dungannon on the other hand, will also be trying to avoid defeat at the end of the season could be up and down depending on the form these teams have on the final weeks, they have three wins in their last five and have failed to build a streak of wins in succession.
