AIL Preview: Division 2B Week 14

Week 14 and Greystones are out to remain unbeaten this season, the promotion race remains as competitive as ever numerous teams can still finish in those coveted places.

Galwegians V Rainey Old Boys, Saturday 25th February, Crowley Park, 12pm

A game with importance at both ends of the table, Rainey bidding to remain in third place, with Wegians trying to claw back Malahide and escape the bottom two.

The hosts are nine points off Malahide in eight but with five games left it is a race against time for them, they also want to prevent Enniscorthy leapfrogging them as just three is the gap there, a big game the hosts need points in.

Rainey remained in third spot last weekend despite defeat to Greystones, but the promotion race heats up in this division as so many teams can state their claim, Rainey dropped into 2B last year after finishing bottom of 2A and look to bounce back up this year.

Enniscorthy V Galway Corinthians, Saturday 25th February, Alcast Park, 12:15pm

Corinthians hope to keep pressure applied to leaders Greystones as they travel to Wexford to meet bottom placed Enniscorthy.

The hosts are struggling right now but will hope to end the season on a high, a win this weekend would boost their confidence.

Corinthians slipped up last weekend and now go in search of another win to keep on the tail of Greystones, they are six points adrift but will hope to snatch all the points this weekend, looking the favourites in this tie.

Dungannon V Malahide, Saturday 25th February, Stevenson Park, 2:30pm

Dungannon will be boosted by last week’s win over Coritnhians as they look to be part of the promotion fight.

They looked strong last weekend against Corinthians and after having a little slump in form are still in the top four bidding to get promoted, they have the ambition now with weeks to go results are important.

Malahide look to be sage in eight spot but will be happy with a mid table finish by the end of the season, a win and results elsewhere going in their favour could see them climb places this weekend.

Greystones V Sligo, Saturday 25th February, Dr Hickey Park, 2:30pm

The leaders look for another weekend unbeaten as sixth placed Sligo make the trip East.

Looking to right the wrongs of last season, Greystones have done everything perfect so far this season, 13 games unbeaten and a six point lead at the top, but they will not look to have any complacency kick in now to see them remain in 2B next season.

Sligo moved to sixth spot last weekend after edging Wanderers in a tight affair, they are looking to continue that form as they still have a shot at finishing fourth this season, but this game will for sure be a daunting one having lost 35-15 in the reverse fixture.

Wanderers V Belfast Harlequins, Saturday 25th February, Merrion Road, 2:30pm

Harlequins look to continue an upward trajectory following a big win last weekend, who;e Wanderers are hoping to claw back the spots they dropped last weekend.

The hosts fell to a narrow one point defeat in Sligo last time out and that one point loss sent them spiralling down to seventh, they look to bounce back as a win would tie them with their visitors in the league standings.

For the Ulstermen a win is crucial to get back into the top four standings, they dropped out and struggled to get back in but just two points is the gap to Dungannon, they need to focus on their game plan, but results elsewhere could prove fruitful.
