AIL Preview: Division 2A Week 3

Queens University are ahead of the pack in 2A so far. They look like the real deal again, with promotion to 1B very much at the front of their minds.

Nenagh Ormond V Cashel RFC, Friday Oct 14th, New Ormond Park, 8pm

It’s Friday night lights for the Tipperary derby. Nenagh Ormond welcome their neighbours Cashel to New Ormond Park.

The hosts remain unbeaten, winning both of their opening contests, sitting in second place on eight points. They’ll be aiming for a clean slate of victories heading into the week break.

Cashel come into the game off the back of a solid 5-20 away victory over UL Bohs to claim their first win of the campaign. Will they put an end to Nenagh’s winning streak.

Blackrock College V Old Crescent, Saturday Oct 15th, Stradbrook, 2:30pm

Old Crescent make the journey to Stradbrook on Saturday afternoon to face Blackrock College.

Newly promoted Blackrock College have taken five points from the two games that they have played so far. Two wins out of three is a good return from the opening block of fixtures.

Old Crescent have struggled to date, only putting one point on the board. Can they get their first win of the competition on the road tomorrow?

MU Barnhall V Queens University, Saturday Oct 15th, Parsonstown, 2:30pm

The students do battle when fourth meet first in Maynooth on Saturday.

Queens have taken all the points available so far. Early signs suggest they are as good if not better than they were last season. Will they get three wins on the bounce?

At this early stage, MU Barnhall sit in the playoff spots and a win at the weekend would only boast   their cause for a top four finish this season.

Navan V Dolphin, Saturday Oct 15th, Balreask Old, 2:30pm

Navan host Dolphin on Saturday, only the points difference separates these two sides on the table.

Navan got a win against Cashel in round one, but they didn’t manage to do the same last week against Ballymena where they lost 20-14.

Dolphin have had a similar season to their opponents. They suffered a big defeat away to Queens in round 1, but they got off the mark last week with a good 35-8 win over a confident Blackrock College.

UL Bohemians V Ballymena, Saturday Oct 15th, UL Arena, 2:30pm

UL Bohs needs to get off the mark this weekend when they welcome Ulster men Ballymena to Limerick.

It hasn’t gone to plan for UL, suffering two defeats against Nenagh and Cashel. Will their fortunes improve this weekend?

Ballymena only sit towards the bottom end of the table. Their only win coming against Navan in the last round. Is this a good opportunity for them to get another?
