AIL Preview: Division 1B Week 13

There are six rounds left of regular 1B action. That’s plenty of time for many more twists and turns something we associate with this division, given its hyper competitive nature. What upset might happen this week.

Old Belvedere V Highfield, Saturday 18th February, Ollie Campbell Park, 2:30pm
This must be the game of the week. Fourth vs third. Two teams that are in great form, both on impressing winning runs.

Belvo are yet to lose at home this season, winning all six of their home games so far this season. You’d have to go all the way back to round 7 to see the last time they’ve lost a game, they’re on an impressive five game winning streak.

Highfield are on a confident run of their own, winning their last five games. They will be aware of the significance of an away victory if they can get it. This game should be a cracker!

UCC V Buccaneers, Saturday 18th February, The Mardyke, 2:30pm

Eddie O’Sullivan is looking for a happy home coming when he returns to Cork to face UCC on Saturday.

‘Buccs regained their spot at the top of the table in the last game, with City of Armagh breathing down their necks, a win will probably be needed to keep them there.

UCC finally stopped the rot in the last round away to Old Wesley. It was a much needed win for them, a performance to build on going into this block of fixtures.

City of Armagh V Banbridge, Saturday 18th February, Palace Grounds, 2:30pm

City of Armagh suffered a rare loss in their last game against the inform Old Belvedere, but they’re back at home in the Palace Grounds, a fortress they haven’t been beaten in all season.

Chris Parker’s troops are favourites heading into this Ulster derby. A win could potentially put them back at the top of the table.

Banbridge have proven already this season that they can beat anybody on their day.

St Mary’s College V Naas, Saturday 18th February, Templeville Road, 2:30pm

This could be another cracking contest. It is a must win for both sides.

Sean Cronin vs Johne Murphy, both coaches will be demanding a strong end to the season as the battle for the playoffs and survival intensifies.

Malone V Old Wesley, Saturday 18th February, Gibson Park, 2:30pm

Malone welcome Old Wesley to Gibson Park on Saturday.

Old Wesley will be looking to bounce back following defeat in the last game.

Malone need some sort of result if they are going to strengthen their survival hopes.
