Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1B

Round 12 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1B gets underway on Saturday afternoon, with all five games taking place at 2:30pm. 

Old Wesley head into the weekend at the top of the table, winning 10 of their first 11 games. However, Highfield have dropped to six points behind the leaders after a shock loss to City of Armagh last weekend. 

Highfield vs Banbridge, Woodleigh Park

Highfield will look to return to winning ways at Woodleigh Park against Banbridge in Division 1B.

The hosts shockingly lost to a struggling City of Armagh 27-21 and have lost two of their last three matches, falling further behind Wesley at the top of the table.

Old Wesley vs Old Belvedere, Energia Park

First place Old Wesley host seventh place Old Belvedere at Energia Park in Division 1B.

The league leaders are unbeaten in five matches and haven’t lost since losing away at Highfield in mid November. 

Navan vs St Mary’s College, Balreask Old

Bottom of the table Navan look for their third win of the season as they face third placed St Mary’s College at Balreask Old.

St Mary’s College boast a potent attack, which leads the league in points scored against a Navan team, who have conceded 315 points in 11 games. 

Naas vs Shannon, Forenaughts

Fifth hosts fourth as Nass welcomes Shannon to Forenaughts in a crucial mid-table clash in Division 1B.

The two teams played out a thriller the last time they squared off, which saw Naas win 29-35 at Thomond Park. 

Malone vs City of Armagh, Gibson Park

City of Armagh will look to build off their win against Highfield as they head to Gibson Park to take on Malone. 

Last weekend’s victory was a crucial win for the visitors, who were in freefall, losing five of their last six matches in Division 1B.
