Holland set for History

Billy Holland will move ahead of Ronan O’Gara and become the second most capped player for the province if he comes off the bench this weekend against Cardiff Blues in the PRO14.

The Munster forward, 35, will hit 241 appearances, with a little bit of daylight between his tally and that of his former second row team mate Donnacha O’Callaghan, on 268 games, who currently sits in top spot.

We will face a journey to Wales for the honour though as Munster are on their travels once again. This time Johann van Graan’s side head to Wales to play the Cardiff Blues this weekend, having beaten Edinburgh 10-22 in their previous PRO14 fixture two weekend ago.

Munster are boosted by the return of Joey Carbery to the matchday squad for the first time in over a year. His last appearance for the province coming in January 2020. He has played just two games since sustaining an ankle injury before the 2019 World Cup.

Meanwhile PRO14 League leaders Leinster play Scottish side Glasgow Warriors in the RDS Arena this Sunday, the 28th of February. Glasgow lost 13-19 against Ulster last Saturday and face a daunting task away to the league leaders and reigning champions.

Glasgow Warriors have one win in the Pro14 this year, while Leinster have won their last four matches after a Christmas wobble. Both sides will be without several key players on Irish Six Nations duty.

Ulster aims to make it 12 wins out of 13 in the Pro14 to keep the pressure on Leinster at the top of Conference A. They welcome Welsh side Osprey’s to the Kingspan Stadium. The good news for Ulster this week is that winger Jacob Stockdale has overcome an ankle injury. Stockdale has not played since Ulster clashed with Munster on the 2nd of January.

Connacht, like Ulster, are the chasers in their group. Andy Friend’s side trail Munster by 9 points in Conference B. This weekend they play Italian side Benetton who lie bottom of Conference B with five points. Benetton lost their 11th Pro14 game from 11 to Scarlets 41-17 on Saturday. The Galway side will look to make it three @PRO14Official wins in a row and 12 straight for Benetton. Bundee Aki returns, which should be a welcome boost,
