AIL Roundup: Division 2C Week 3

Instonians continue to lead 2C after an impressive win over Bangor, while Midleton and Tullamore both gain ground.

Bruff 7-15 Skerries, Kilballyowen Park

Skerries picked up a much-needed win over Bruff at the weekend, whixh now moves them up to sixth in the table.

Eamonn Costelloe crossed for a converted try early to give Bruff a 7-0 lead, however Davey Goodman crossed for Skerries before the break and the conversion by Shane Murphy left it 7-7 at the break.

Murphy landed a second half penalty to give Skerries a three point lead, before Ruairi Woods crossed for a try to add the insurance in the tie.

Clonmel 18-21 Tullamore, Ardghaoithe

Tullamore left it late to get the win over Clonmel, the hosts had the advantage but with five minutes left Tullamore touched down in the corner.

Clonmel started the better as Luke Hogan crossed for a converted try after 18 minutes. Albert Fronek and Dylan Cadogan added a penalty each for 13-0 lead at the break.

Tullamore hit two converted tries in the opening ten minutes of the second half to leave it 14-13, Dean Slattery crossed for try number two for the hosts after 70 minutes, but the late try for Tullamore saw them take the win.

Instonians 26-20 Bangor, Shaws Bridge

Instonians remain the team to beat in the competition, as they got over the line against their Ulster counterparts Bangor this weekend.

The game was tight and both teams never gave an inch, just two points separated them at the break, the hists added two quick second half tries to put Bangor on the backfoot.

The visitors replied with a converted try and penalty of their own to bring the gap to six, but failed to reduce the gap anymore.

Midleton 28-26 Omagh Academicals, Towns Park

Midleton rise the to third place in the table after a two point win over Omagh.

Just their second win of the season but one that boosts confidence in the squad.

Sundays Well 27-9 Ballina, Musgrave Park

Well are up to eight in the table after deafting Ballina sending them down to the bottom.

Thier first win of the season comes with a bonus point as they will now look to run the result into a string of performances.
