AIL Roundup: Division 2C Week 2

Instonians soared to the top of Division 2C with another bonus point win this weekend. There were also wins for Bangor, Midlteon, Tullamore and Omagh Academcials.

Bangor 32-26 Ballina, Upritchard Park, Saturday October 8th, 2:30pm.

Things went from bad to worse for Ballina this weekend, with a second defeat in a row after relegation from Division 2B. Bangor led 22-13 at the break and despite two second half tries from Ballina, they proved no match for their opponents. It’s now two opening wins for Bangor who are sitting in second place in the table

Midleton 33-7 Sundays Well, Town Park, Saturday October 8th, 2:30pm.

After a defeat against Clonmel last weekend, Midleton came out firing this week, with a bonus point win over Sundays Well. Tries from Rob Hickey, Connor Smiddy and Gearoid Collins sealed the big win for the East Cork outfit. Sundays Well are still waiting for a first win of the campaign and they will be hoping to find that next weekend against Ballina.

Omagh Academicals 24-13 Clonmel, Thomas Mellon Playing Fields, Saturday October 8th, 2:30pm.

After a narrow defeat to Bruff in matchday one, Omagh Academicals earned their first win of the season after a decent performance against Clonmel. They’ll be hoping to continue their form next weekend when they face Midleton, while Clonmel will be eager to return to winning ways against

Skerries 7-43 Instonians, Holmpatrick, Saturday October 8th, 2:30pm.

After a terrific win last weekend, many would have expected Instonians to struggle against the pre-season Division 2C favourites Skerries. That was far from the case as the Division 2C new boys cruised to yet another bonus point win, sending them to the top of the table. Skerries will be eager to bounce back to form next weekend when they play Bruff, while Instonians will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the season against Bangor.

Tullamore 50-26 Bruff, Spollanstown, Saturday October 8th, 2:30pm.

Bruff fell to their first defeat of the season at the hands of Tullamore, who found form with a bonus point win. Tullamore lost out to Instonians in round one but will feel as though they can really threaten sides this season, especially after the win over Bruff.
