AIL Roundup: Division 1A Week 9

The cold weather conditions saw many games called off at the weekend. There were only two games that happened in 1A. Young Munster became the first side to beat Terenure this season as their great form continues and Clontarf finished the year with a convincing win over Garryowen. 

Young Munster 24-18 Terenure College, Tom Clifford Park

Young Munster became the first team to beat Terenure College this season after a strong second half performance. 

Nure led 3-12 at the halftime intervals thanks to tries Craig Adams and Luke Clohessy. 

The Cookies scored 3 tries in the second half to get them another huge victory and their fourth win on the bounce. The inform Dan Walsh, replacement Paulo Leleisiuao and Shay McCarthy all crossing the whitewash in the game.

A Caolan Dooley penalty made sure of the losing bonus point for Sean Skehan’s men. Munsters just sit one point off the top 4 places.

Clontarf 36-10 Garryowen, Castle Avenue

Clontarf had too much for Garryowen on Saturday afternoon as they ran out comfortable 36-10 winners in Castle Avenue.

Only two points separated the sides at halftime. Dylan Donnellan is a try scoring machine. The powerful hooker secured his brace in the first half.  Johnny Keane got Garryowen’s only try of the game.

Tarf scored four more tries in the second half. The birthday boy and captain Matt D’Arcy got on the score sheet as well as a try for Leinster Academy scrum half Ben Murphy. Andy Woods men sit second in the standings.
