AIL Preview: Division 2C Week 11

Round 11 brings more action across the table in 2C, with the battle for promotion and relegation heating up, teams are looking to put in big performances with just eight games left of the season.

Clonmel V Bruff, Saturday January 21st, Ardgaoithe, 2:30pm

With just a point separating the Munster neighbours ahead of kick off in the promotion race, both Clonmel and Bruff are looking for a strong result to keep those hopes alive.

Clonmel toppled their opponents in South Limerick back in December 30-28 and since then  have remained unbeaten in the division, with some form now under their belts they are looking to keep the streak alive and remain a promotion contender.

Since that defeat Bruff too have recorded an unbeaten run of performances and are out to right the wrongs from that performance, two wins in a row over Midleton has them a point behind with this game being a real test to see if they can fight for top four.

Midleton V Instonians, Saturday January 21st, Towns Park, 2:30pm

With one win in five games Midleton face an uphill test hosting the unbeaten league leaders Instonians at Town Park this weekend.

Three defeats in a row after their 13-13 draw with Ballina back in November sees them sit in seventh place on 16 points, one of those defeats came at the hands of their opponents this weekend losing 47-13 away from home in December after being unable to stop them in the second half.

Every week it is becoming the same old same old from Instonians, they have steam rolled a 13 point gap between them and second place, becoming a formidable foe that look the signs of not slowing down any time soon, with eight games remaining one hand is firmly grasped on the division title.

Omagh Academicals V Ballina, Saturday January 21st, Thomas Mellon Playing Fields, 2:30pm

Having managed just a second win of the year last time out in a huge scalp over Tullamore, Ballina now bid to get out of the bottom two and leapfrog their Ulster adversaries this weekend.

Six defeats in a row have left Accies teetering on a tightrope of dropping into the bottom two, two back to back loses to the league leaders has knocked their confidence a little but now they have to pick themselves up and try and get a win over a team that defeated them back in December.

It was their first win of the year when Ballina over Omagh 24-17 in Heffernan Park after producing a stunning second half comeback, they put in a great performance in defeat to Tullamore to start the year but last weekend was a result that was much needed, they looked to have found themselves and now bid to start a charge to remain a 2C club.

Skerries V Sundays Well, Saturday January 21st, Holmpatrick, 2:30pm

Two teams with mixed fortunes in 2C as Skerries look to continue their push for promotion while elsewhere Sundays Well hope to move out of the bottom two.

The Goats have looked likely to remain a promotion favourite after being title contenders last year, having hit some bumps in the road over the course of the season so far they have driven onwards and now try to keep the momentum going.

Well are another team in that bottom trio who are really in need of a positive result, they looked great against Clonmel but just were not able to take the points, dropping them bottom after Ballina’s win, it is now make or break for them.

Tullamore V Bangor, Saturday January 21st, Spollanstown, 2:30pm

After last weekend’s surprise defeat Tullamore look to dust themselves off with a home tie against Bangor.

Having tried to hunt down Instonians at the top in recent weeks, last week’s defeat was a major blow in their title aspirations and now require a big turnaround over Bangor, home form has been great for them as they remain unbeaten in Spollanstown.

Bangor are facing a fourth defeat in a row as their form has taken a dip since defeat to Tullamore back in December, having dropped to sixth spot they need a huge performance to try and end their recent barron spell.
