AIL Preview: Division 1B Week 9

There are a few interesting encounters on this weekend across Division 1B.  Eddie O’Sullivan’s Buccaneers travel to Kildare. It’s an Ulster derby between Malone and City of Armagh, and Old Belvedere and UCC meet in what’s a big clash in the middle of the table.

Naas V Buccaneers, Saturday December 10th, Forenaughts, 2:30pm

This  is a potential game of the week contender.

It’s Eddie O’Sullivan vs Johne Murphy. The Athlone team who are on a great winning streak go in as favourites. They’ll be keen to make it 8 wins from 9 league games.

Things haven’t went to plan for Naas so far this season, but a win on Saturday could inspire them to have a strong second half to the season, just like they had last time out.

Malone V City of Armagh, Saturday December 10th, Gibson Park, 2:30pm

It’s another Ulster derby in Gibson Park this weekend.

The in form City of Armagh will be confident they can finish the year with a win.

Malone have found it hard this season, but their only wins have come at home. They’ll be hoping the support of the crowd in Gibson Park will spur them on towards victory.

UCC V Old Belvedere, Saturday December 10th, The Mardyke, 2:30pm

Both UCC and Old Belvedere are part of that middle pack on the table.

UCC haven’t won a game since round 4, its been a tough few weeks for them. They’ve went from being top of the table and unbeaten to having a 50% winning ratio and sitting 7th in the table.

Old Belvedere got back to winning ways last week, with a convincing win over Malone. Away form has been a problem for them, if they can sort that out, they could push for a top 4 spot.

St Mary’s College V Highfield, Saturday December 10th, Templeville Road, 2:30pm

This is another interesting game happening at the weekend.

Sean Cronin will be keen to keep the pressure on City of Armagh and Buccaneers at the top of the table.

Highfield are another team that have had a mixed season so far, 4 wins and 4 defeats. Cian Bohane has been the standout player for them so far. If they could win the game on Saturday, they should be in the top 4 for Christmas.

Banbridge V Old Wesley, Saturday December 10th, Rifle Park, 2:30pm

Banbridge welcome Old Wesley to Rifle Park on Saturday.

Banbridge will be relying on home advantage to try and get the result.

Old Wesley will be keen to get back into the top 4 with a win this week.
