AIL Preview: Division 1B Week 6

This week will we see a top of the table clash. UCC and Buccaneers have been the standout performers in the league so far and the winner will firmly put themselves top of the table heading into the break week.

Buccaneers V University College Cork, Sat November 12th, Dubarry Park, 2:30pm

There is only one place to begin and that is with the clash of the weekend. UCC suffered their first defeat of the campaign last week, whilst Buccs are in fine form, winning their last four league games.

It’s Michael Bradley vs Eddie O’Sullivan, two quality coaches going head-to-head. Who will come out on top. They’re two coaches that have taken well to life back in the AIL

Naas V St Mary’s College, Sat November 12th, Forenaughts, 2:30pm

Two teams that are on good runs of form meet on Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Osbourne is one of the shining lights in Johne Murphy’s team this season. He is top of the scoring charts.

Sean Cronin will be hoping to get that first away victory this weekend. His men come into the game off the back off a massive 66-7 victory over Banbridge. They currently sit third. They can keep the pressure on the top two with a win on Saturday.

Highfield V Old Belvedere, Sat November 12th, Woodleigh Park, 2:30pm

It’s a must win game for Highfield at home as they’ve yet to get a victory in this current block of fixtures.

Like Old Wesley, Highfield led from the front for most of the regular season last time out, but they haven’t quite hit those heights yet this season. They’ll need to target this game, especially since Old Belvedere struggle to get the results away from home.

Old Belvedere have won three of their opening five contests, but are still yet to do the business away from Ollie Campbell Park. They currently sit just outside the top four. A win in Cork would make people think they are serious playoff contenders this time around/

Old Wesley V Malone, Sat November 12th, Energia Park, 2:30pm

After a few tough weeks Old Wesley will be looking to get back to winning ways when they welcome a struggling Malone to Energia Park on Saturday afternoon.

Old Wesley will be disappointed with their start to the season, but a win on Saturday could get them back on track.

Malone are struggling at the moment and relegation could be a real possibility.

Banbridge V City of Armagh, Sat November 12th, Rifle Park, 2:30pm

It’s another Ulster derby this weekend.

City of Armagh will be looking for their first away win to stay in the top four.

Banbridge need to give a reaction following their big defeat to St Mary’s .
