3 Irish Coaches in PRO14 Nominations

There’s a real splash of green to the announcement of the PRO14 Coach of the Month award for February with three quarters of the list made up from the Irish provinces.

Connacht’s Andy Friend, Glenn Delaney of Welsh club Scarlets, Dan McFarland at Ulster and Munster’s Johann van Graan form the four-man shortlist.

Munster welcome Connacht to Limerick for one clash while the other between Ulster and Leinster will take place at the Kingspan Stadium.

South African van Graan’s Munster side lie on top of Conference B with a 9 point cushion over Connacht. They have lost twice all season in the Pro14 and won 11, most recently against Cardiff Blues and have alson beaten Clermont in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Connacht and Andy Friend are looking to make Munster sweat in Conference B. Their impressive form has seen them beat Leinster, who sits on top of the other conference and rack up convincing wins against Welsh side Ospreys and The Dragons.

Ulster trail Leinster in Group B but under McFarland are one of the only sides to have beaten Munster this season. They have lost once all season, to league leaders Leinster. The northerners trail Leinster by six points, and testament to the influence of McFarland that sees them sit comfortably above Scarlets in Group B.
