All Blacks Book Historic Fifth RWC Final Appearance

Free scoring wing Will Jordan scored a hat-trick as New Zealand booked their place in the Rugby World Cup final courtesy of a seven-try demolition of a helpless Argentina.

Tries from Jordie Barrett, Aaron Smith, a brace from Shannon Frizzell combined with Jordan’s treble, allowed the three-time world champions to fire into next Saturday’s final playing the winner of tomorrow night’s semi-final between England and South Africa.

Argentina knew they needed a fast start and after capitalising on a poor clearance kick from Jordie Barrett, they built the phases and eventually allowed deadeye goal kicker Emiliano Boffelli to open the scoring with an early penalty.

New Zealand replied instantly as an imposing maul forced Argentina to get in at the side and after referee Angus Gardner penalised the Pumas and sent a stern warning, the following maul allowed space to release the silk backline with the potent wing Will Jordan crossing in the corner.

Mark Telea’s turnover at the breakdown put the All Blacks on the attack against an unstructured defence and quick hands to the outside allowed Jordie Barrett to cross.

Boffelli and Richie Mo’unga traded penalties before Shannon Frizell crossed in the dying seconds after a strong carry by Telea to make it a 14-point deficit at the interval.

Aaron Smith continued the New Zealand onslaught in the second half as he broke free off a maul and rolled his way over the line after a dominant All Blacks scrum.

New Zealand just had too much power for Argentina as they rumbled their way forward and after 19 phases Frizzell scored his second try from close range.

Moments later, Telea made another devastating break and quick hands allowed Jordan crossed again for another try in the corner.

Scott Barrett was spotted by the TMO to have committed a cynical knock on at a breakdown and was rightly sent to the sin bin in what was the only blot in Ian Foster’s sides copybook all night.

Jordan completed his hat-trick with a chip and chase, collecting the ball to go over in style as the Crusaders flyer brought his tally to 31 tries in 26 test starts.
