Roundup: Lidl NFL Division 2 Round 3

Kildare were ruthless as they disposed of Cavan in Belturbet. Neasa Dooley (pen), Ellen Dowling and Trina Duggan scored the goals for Diane O’Hora’s side in their excellent win. Tyrone overcame their Ulster rivals and neighbours Monaghan to make it three wins from three in Division 2.

Cavan 0-03 Kildare 3-12

Diane O’Hora’s side made it three wins from three with a comprehensive win over Cavan in Belturbet. The Breffni County had no answer to the clinical Lilywhites.

Kildare took the lead early on when Neasa Dooley put away a penalty. Cavan didn’t register their first score until the 20th minute. Both sides added two more points to the score as Kildare went in at the break 1-02 to 0-03 in front.

The second half was all Kildare as Cavan failed to score. Ellen Dowling scored her side’s second goal while Trina Duggan wrapped up an excellent win with their third goal.

Donegal 1-09 Westmeath 1-03

Donegal bounced back from their defeat to Kildare last weekend to defeat Westmeath by six points in Letterkenny.

The Ulster side started the game well and were ahead by three points after 24 minutes. They added another point to their score to give them a four point lead at the interval.

Vicky Carr grabbed a goal for Westmeath late on but that was cancelled out by a goal from Suzanne White.

Laois 0-05 Tipperary 2-08

Laois remain bottom of Division 2 and without a point after a third defeat in a row. For Tipp it was back to winning ways after losing to Tyrone by one point last weekend.

Laois had an early lead but a goal from Neasa Towey in the 14th minute gave Tipp the lead and they didn’t relinquish it. They were ahead 1-04 to 0-03 at half-time.

Tipp were ahead by four again in the 24th minute before they dealt a blow to Laois with a second goal. Laois failed to tag on any scores in the final minutes as Tipp recorded their second win of the campaign.

Tyrone 3-12 Monaghan 2-08

Tyrone made it three wins from three in Division 2 with a fine win over their Ulster rivals Monaghan. This result leaves still without a point.

In what was a tough opening half both sides scored a goal apiece. After 24 minutes Tyrone were up by three but a second goal before the break extended that lead to nine points.

That second goal for Tyrone rocked Monaghan and gave the home side the momentum for the second half. Monaghan grabbed a second goal but Tyrone got a third as they kept their 100% record intact.
