Preview: Lidl NFL Division 1 Round 3

Things are tight at the top and bottom in Division 1 as Round 3 takes place. Armagh, Kerry and Meath have 100% records while Galway, Waterford and Dublin are still without a point.

Mayo take on Dublin in Ballina on Saturday. Mayo had a fine win over rivals Galway last weekend while Dublin fell to their neighbours Meath.

On Monday there is a Munster Derby in Tralee as leaders Kerry take on Cork. Kerry had a good win over Waterford last weekend while Cork lost at home to Armagh.

Armagh v Galway, Sun 4th Feb, BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, 2pm

Armagh are looking to record their third win in a row as they entertain Galway at the Athletic Grounds. Galway are still looking to pick up their first points of the campaign.

The Orchard County have impressed on their return to the top division with wins over Waterford and then Cork last weekend in Páirc Uí Rinn.

Galway lost to their neighbours Mayo last weekend as they slumped to their second defeat in a row. They’ll want to get off the mark soon. For Armagh they’ll hope playing at home will be a big advantage.

Mayo v Dublin, Sun 4th Feb, Ballina Stephenites, 2pm

Mayo got their first win of the campaign last weekend when they overcame Galway by one point. They’ll hope to build on that result as they welcome Dublin to Ballina.

Dublin are one of three teams who have not registered a point so far. They lost to Kerry in their opening game and then fell to rivals Meath last weekend.

It was a disappointing result for Dublin. They’ll be out to avoid a third defeat in a row. When the sides met last year in the league the Dubs defeated Mayo by four points.

Waterford v Meath, Sun 4th Feb, Fraher Field, 2pm

Lying bottom of the table and still without a point, Waterford take on Meath in Dungarvan on Sunday. With two going down to Division 2 this year the Deise know they need to pick up points soon.

Meath are looking to keep their 100% record intact. They have defeated Mayo and Dublin so far this season. Last weekend they had a fine win over the All-Ireland Champions Dublin.

When these two sides met last year in the league a late goal from Lauren McGregor gave Waterford the win. They’ll love nothing better than to repeat that result.

Kerry v Cork, Mon 5th Feb, Austin Stack Park, 3pm

The meeting of two great rivals in Tralee on Bank Holiday Monday. Form goes out the window when these two sides play.

Kerry’s only defeat in the league last year on the way to claiming the Division 1 title was away to Cork. The Rebel County defeated Kerry in the Munster Final.

Kerry are currently top of Division 1 with two wins from two. After a fine win over Galway in their opening game, Cork lost to Armagh last weekend. They’ll hope to bounce back against Kerry, while the Kingdom will be out to make it three wins from three.
