Preview: Lidl NFL Div 2 Week 3

Armagh will be hoping for three wins out of three when they entertain neighbours Monaghan in Middletown while Laois and Tyrone will want to get back to winning ways when they clash at Crettyard.

Armagh v Monaghan, Sunday 5th Feb, Middletown at 1pm

Armagh have been impressive so far in the league, having defeated Cavan and Roscommon. The Rossies did put it up to the Orchard County.

Monaghan picked up their first win last weekend when they beat Tyrone by five points in Clones, Tyrone did try to get back into the game but Monaghan were able to hold on.

The Farney County will hope to build on that win but will find it hard against an Armagh side who would like to reach another Division 2 final.

Cavan v Westmeath, Sunday 5th Feb, Knockbride at 2pm

The last time these two sides met was in the All-Ireland Senior championship relegation game last year which Cavan won.

Cavan are a changed side since then and have found the going hard so far in Division 2. They have lost their opening two games to Armagh and Tipperary.

After losing to Tipp in their opening game, Westmeath bounced back in superb fashion last weekend to comprehensively defeat Laois. They’ll be hoping to bring that performance into the Cavan game.

Laois v Tyrone, Sunday 5th Feb, Crettyard at 2pm

Two teams that suffered defeats last week and who want to get back to winning ways. They’ll both have aspirations to get to a division final.

After impressing in their opening game Laois were stunned last weekend by Westmeath who managed to score seven goals in their 18 point win.

Tyrone lost out to Monaghan. It was a game that Monaghan deserved to win. Tyrone know they can play better. Laois do too. It should be an entertaining clash.

Tipperary v Roscommon, Sunday 5th Feb, Fethard at 2pm

In their previous two games Roscommon have put it up to Tyrone and Armagh but have failed to get anything out of either game.

It is a big step-up from Division 3 to Division 2. Mistakes you make in Division 2 will get punished. Roscommon have a big performance in them and will hope it comes against Tipp.

Tipp have two wins from two and with Aishling Maloney back from injury they are a stern test for any side. They’ll be out to record their third win in a row on Sunday.
