With Clare and Roscommon already promoted to Division 3 attention turns to the bottom of the table and the battle for survival. Bottom side Sligo take on Louth who are three points ahead of them while Antrim who are second from bottom are at home to Roscommon. Any two of those three will make the drop to Division 3.
Down v Clare, Sun 24th Mar, Teconnaught, 2pm
Clare will play Division 2 football next year while Down will remain in Division 3. A win for them will see them finish in 3rd place.
Down had a good win over Louth last weekend. With this game being at home they’d no doubt like to finish this campaign with a win.
Clare were very impressive last weekend in their comprehensive win over Antrim. The Banner County will want to prepare for that Division 3 Final with a good performance and a win.
Sligo v Louth, Sun 24th Mar, Cloonacool GAA, 2pm
A massive game at the bottom of Division 3. A win for Sligo could see them stay in Division 3; depending on how Antrim do. Defeat or a draw will relegate the Yeats County.
Sligo fell to a six point defeat to Wexford last weekend. They’ve picked up just one point so far; a draw against Offaly in their first game of the campaign.
Louth were defeated by Down last weekend. A win for the Wee County will see them remain in Division 3 next year. When these two sides met last year Louth won by one point.
Offaly v Wexford, Sun 24th Mar, Edenderry GAA, 2pm
Nothing to play for in this game, only pride. Wexford are currently 4th in the table while Offaly are three points behind them. A win for the Faithful County would see them leapfrog Wexford and finish 4th.
Offaly were unlucky last weekend to lose to Roscommon by just one point. They’ll hope to put in a good performance in front of a home crowd.
Wexford defeated Sligo last weekend by six points. When the two sides met last year Wexford won by nine points. It’ll be a different game on Sunday.
Antrim v Roscommon, Sun 24th Mar, Lamh Dearg Hannahstown, 2pm
It’s simple for Antrim, pick up the three points and hope Louth fail to beat Sligo. If that happens the Saffrons will remain in Division 3 for next year. Anything less than a win and Antrim will go back down to Division 4.
Last weekend Antrim suffered a heavy defeat to promoted Clare. It was tough on Antrim and they’ll hope they can bounce back from it.
Roscommon had a narrow win over Offaly last weekend. They’re promoted to Division 2 and have a final to look forward to. They’ll want to finish off the group stages with a win.
