For the winners of these semi-finals, it’s not just a place in the Division 4 Final but promotion to Division 3. Two interesting games in store. Leitrim and Fermanagh are favourites but Limerick and Carlow will want to upset the odds.
Leitrim v Limerick, Sun 24th Mar, Padraig Pearses GAA, 1pm
The beaten finalists from 2023 and 2022 meet in Roscommon with a place in the final and a promotion at stake. Leitrim finished 2nd in the table while Limerick finished 3rd, seven points behind the Connacht side.
When these two sides met earlier in the league Leitrim defeated Limerick by seven points. Jonny Garrity’s side picked up six wins in the group stages and lost just once.
Limerick claimed their place in the semi-final with a win over Carlow in their previous game. The Munster side got to the All-Ireland Junior Final last year. Form usually goes out the window in these games but the Treaty County will be wary of Leitrim.
Fermanagh v Carlow, Sun 24th Mar, Dowdallshill, 2pm
When these two sides met earlier in the league Carlow came from 14 points down to draw with Fermanagh. It was the only game where Fermanagh dropped points. They won six games and drew just once.
Carlow finished 4th in the table as they claimed their semi-final spot. They have never reached the league final and will hope to do that on Sunday but know they will need to put in a big performance.
Fermanagh were in the final back in 2019. They went on to claim the title with a win over Antrim. Eimear Smyth has been grabbing the headlines but they have other big players who can help them claim a place in the final and gain promotion back to Division 3.
