Preview: Lidl NFL Division 2 Round 4

Kildare currently sit top of the table with three wins from three. They travel to take on Tipperary on Sunday. The Premier County are just three points behind the Lilywhites and would like to halt their 100% start to the season.

In the bottom half of the table Westmeath and Cavan meet in Mullingar on Sunday. Both sides have just picked up one win so far this season. Cavan defeated Westmeath by one point last year so the home side will be out to avenge that.

Monaghan v Donegal, 18th Feb, Truagh, 2pm

An Ulster derby with six points separating both sides. Monaghan are down near the bottom and have yet to register a point while Donegal are in 4th place.

Kildare, Westmeath and Tyrone have all defeated Monaghan so far, while Donegal have lost just once, that was to Kildare. They bounced back in their last game with a win over Westmeath.

Monaghan need to get points on the board quickly, while Donegal will want to keep the pressure on the top teams. A good battle is in store.

Tyrone v Laois, 18th Feb, Aghaloo, 2pm

Tyrone are in 2nd place, just behind Kildare on score difference, Laois have struggled and sit at the bottom of the table. They have yet to pick up one point.

With the way the draw was made, this is a fourth home game in a row for Tyrone. They’ve won the previous three so will hope to make it four wins from four.

Laois need to pick up points quickly but face a daunting test in Tyrone on Sunday. They’ll need to put in an excellent performance if they are to come away with a positive result.

Westmeath v Cavan, 18th Feb, TEG Cusack Park, 2pm

A game in the bottom half of the table. Both sides have picked up just one win so far. Westmeath’s only win came a few weeks back away to Monaghan. Cavan’s only win came against Laois in the same round of games.

In their last game Westmeath lost to Donegal while Cavan were well beaten at home to leaders Kildare.

Every point is so important in this division. When these two sides met last year Cavan came out on top by one point. It’ll be another tight game but home advantage might be of advantage to Westmeath.

Tipperary v Kildare, 18th Feb, Fethard Town Park, 3pm

A third game on the road for top of the table Kildare. The Lilywhites have a 100% record in Division 2 after gaining promotion from Division 3 last year.

Tipperary lie third in the table, just three points behind Kildare and Tyrone. Their only defeat was away to Tyrone. They bounced back from that loss with a fine win away to Laois.

Kildare have been in excellent form and will hope to maintain their winning run. Tipperary would love to end that winning streak.
