St Josephs have recorded success in the Newtowngore Engineering Minor Championship B Final, defeating Glencar Manorhamilton at Pairc Sean this afternoon.
Josephs had the edge in the tie, a nervy second half at times but a high scoring game where they took full advantage of their chances.
The sides level at the break 1-6 to 2-3 for Manor, they worked hard to get their scores in the second period to put a gap between them and their opponents.
Josephs lead 0-3 to 0-1 before Éanna McNamara goaled after 16 minutes to put a lead in place for their chances, 1-3 to 0-1
Manor worked the scores well to cut the deficit before Matthew Devaney had the green flag waved after 21 minutes, a point between them in favour of Josephs, 1-4 to 1-3.
Their second arrived a minute later Jack Kelly hitting the back of the Joseph’s net for a 2-3 to 1-4 lead.
Josephs replied with two points the second coming in the second minute of injury time, enough to take them in level at the break.
Darren Short helped kick Josephs into a four point lead 11 minutes into the second half, starting to build a lead 1-10 to 2-3.
A Darragh Boylan free after 15 minutes got Manor on the board but were on thr wrong end of a 2-4 to 1-12 scoreline.
Harry Wilson kicked the second Josephs goal after 46 minutes to put another sizeable gap between the two sides, with Josephs looking to hold firm in the final quarter, 2-12 to 2-4.
Matthew Devaney’s goal after 53 minutes looked to ignited a late comeback for Manor, but the hopes were dashed by Kalum McLoughlin as he found the net just two minutes later for Josephs.
Jack Kelly kicked a late consolation for Manor but it was Josephs Day in a wet Pairc Sean.
