Preview: D2 Allianz Football League

Galway will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in Division 2 when they face Clare on Sunday, with the action beginning on Saturday as Down and Offaly chase their first win of the campaign.

Down v Offaly, Saturday 12th March, 5pm, Newry

Both sides routed to the bottom of the table have a chance to get a win on the board.

Both Down and Offaly have struggled to date but Offaly could have more confidence heading into the tie.

Having competed fairly well against an inform Galway side in Salthill the faithful county can look towards the 3-10 they scored that day as a mark of their scoring abilty on their day

Down however fell to a heavy defeat last time out against a strong Roscommon side trailing by 11 at the final whistle Down are in need of a vast improvement if they are to pick up their first win of the campaign.

Galway v Clare, Sunday 13th March, 2pm, Pearse Stadium.

Galway will look to maintain their winning run have won all four games to date as they welcome across the bay neighbours Clare to Salthill.

Clare have had a decent start to division two having suffered only one defeat to the hands of Derry. Not being able to turn some close contests from draws to wins has them firmly in the middle of the table on four points.

Galway off the back of a win against Offaly although can be happy with the result will be disappointed to have conceded 3-10. Conceding that many scores will be a worry for Paraic Joyce and his side, they have been saved by great attacking displays up to this point.

Roscommon V Derry, Sunday 13th March, 2pm, Dr Hyde Park

The clash of the weekend in division two as table toppers Derry travel to third place Roscommon both sides without a loss and Derry having won all previous fixtures sets this up to be a hotly contested tie.

Derry having dismantled Clare fairly comfortably last time out in Cusack Park 2-13 to 0-10 know that a win in Dr Hyde Park will all but secure a top two finish for the oak leaf county.

Roscommon will be keen to get a result against Derry as a loss at this stage depending on other results could put them three points from the top two. Victory for the Rossies will compress the top three teams leaving us with a tight league table heading into the final stages of the league.

Meath V Cork, Sunday 13th March, 2pm, Pairc Tailteann.

Another two sides with no wins after four matches and both teams will be desperate to put some distance between themselves and the bottom two sides.

Meath having drawn their last two fixtures will be searching for their first win and a Cork side struggling for form and conceding scores may be the perfect side to topple, its vital for the Royal County to separate themselves from the end of season relegation scrap.

Cork having not played since there high scoring shootout against Galway still find themselves on one point four games in and time is running out for the rebels to get points in the bag if they are to survive division 2.

Anything less than two points and Cork could find themselves in the bottom two by Monday.
