Preview: D3 Allianz Football League

Things are tight at the top and bottom of Division 3 with five points separating the bottom side Wicklow and top side Limerick.

Wicklow are the only side within a win in the Division after Longford shocked their neighbours Westmeath last weekend. The Garden County take on Laois, who are just two points ahead of them in the table, this weekend.

Fermanagh have won two games in a row and are now in the promotion mix. They take on Louth on Sunday; score difference separates the sides in the table with the Erne County in 3rd and Louth in 4th.

Antrim v Longford, Saturday 12th March, 2.30pm, Corrigan Park

Longford boosted their chances of survival when they defeated Westmeath last weekend and will want to build on that result but face a formidable side in Antrim who are sitting in second place in the table.

A pointed free from Ryan Murray with the last kick of the game earned Antrim a draw away to Laois in their last game out. Manager Enda McGinley has kept faith in the side that earned a point in Portlaoise for the visit of Longford.

Longford are sweating on the fitness of captain Mickey Quinn. He has been named on the bench for the trip to Antrim. PJ Masterson is named at centre-half in place of the Killoe man. Aidan McGuire comes in at corner-forward with Mark Hughes dropping to the bench.

Limerick v Westmeath, Saturday 12th March, 7pm, TUS Gaelic Park

This is a crucial game for both sides. Limerick sit top of the table with Westmeath two points behind them and will want to get their promotion hopes back on track after losing to Longford last weekend.

Limerick will be without the services of Mike Donovan after he was sent off against Wicklow in their last game. Cian Sheehan returns to the side with Gordon Brown out through injury. Brian Fanning returns and is named on the bench.

David Lynch misses out for Westmeath; he received a red card against Longford last weekend. A win for the Lake County puts them back in the promotion mix while a defeat leaves them looking over their shoulders.

Wicklow v Laois, Sunday 13th March, 2pm, Aughrim

Wicklow sit bottom of the table on just one point and are in relegation trouble. Manager Colin Kelly stepped down a few weeks back with Alan Costello and Gary Duffy taking over the reigns at the Garden County.

Last time out Wicklow lost by four points to Limerick. They put in a strong second half but their shooting let them down and Limerick were able to hold on for the win

Laois lost to Fermanagh last weekend. They are just ahead of Longford on score difference in the table and two points ahead of Wicklow. A win for either side will have huge consequences.

Fermanagh v Louth, Sunday 13th March, Brewster Park

Two teams chasing promotion after a good run of recent results. Fermanagh followed up their fine win away to Longford with a deserved win at home to Laois last weekend. They are just one point behind leaders Limerick.

After a slow start Louth picked up terrific wins away to Limerick and at home to Westmeath and they have promotion in sight. Manager Mickey Harte has likened the league games to mini championship ones such is the competitiveness of the division.

This game was due to take place on Saturday but a bug has swept through the Fermanagh camp so they asked for it to be pushed back. Manager Kieran Donnelly will hope that he has a fully fit squad to pick from for this intriguing game.
