Preview: Allianz NFL Div 2 Week 6

Derry can secure promotion if they defeat strugglers Clare this weekend, both them and Limerick will be relegated if they suffer defeats, while Dublin look to also strengthen their promotion bid.

Meath V Dublin, Saturday March 18th, Páirc Tailteann, 3pm

The match of the weekend in Div 2 is the meeting of Meath and Dublin in Páirc Tailteann, a warm up for a potential Leinster clash when the championship rolls around.

Dublin are looking to bounce back after their defeat to Derry and keep their push for promotion intact or face another year in the second flight, having looked good they have had some rough patches, they will look to put that past them.

Meath squandered a lead against Limerick and had to settle for a draw on Shannonside in their last outing, they have found form hard to come by toppling their old foe would give them a great end to the campaign.

Derry V Clare, Sunday March 19th, Owenbeg, 1pm

With five wins from five Derry can secure promotion if they can overcome Clare in Owenbeg on Sunday.

Derry no doubt will not want to see their hard work fail to materialise a promotion this year, in front of a home crowd they will look to dispatch bottom placed Clare and book their spot in Div 1.

Clare are second from bottom in the relegation zone, but luck is not on their side this year having lost to both Dublin and Kildare by a single point, they need a result here as if Kildare win and they lose this tie they are relegated.

Louth V Cork, Sunday March 19th, DEFY Pairc Mhuire, 1pm

Both Louth and Cork still have a shot at promotion should Dublin lose to Meath, whoever wins here will essentially remain in the hunt.

Louth are shrewd operators under Mickey Harte and every game looks that little bit better, they will luck to finish with a flurry and a win over Cork would put them in good shape.

High scoring Cork will hope to put another big score on the board to keep their promotion bid intact, the rebels have put some high scoring displays together this season and have a potent attack ready to cause Louth an issue.

Limerick V Kildare, Sunday March 19th, TUS Gaelic Grounds, 3:45pm

Kildare need to get a win from Shannonside, while a famous first win for Limerick would make it interesting.

Limerick have had issues both on and off the field, they struggled in the league this year and will need to grab a win after their draw last time out which hopefully has given them some confidence.

Kildare’s inconsistency has put them in the bottom two but not all hope is lost if they can find their rhythm to get a win on Sunday, everything is at stake for them to win this tie.
