Preview: Allianz NFL Div 1 Week 6

Division 1 still remains a minefield as only Mayo are guaranteed safety as things stand, they will luck to secure their final place this weekend.

Armagh V Galway, Saturday March 18th, BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, 5pm

With just two weeks left in the race to secure a spot in the league final, both Armagh and Galway look for the win to stake their claim to be in that decider.

Artmagh dug deep to overcome a tough Donegal side and with this being another home game, they’ll hope their supporters are as encouraging as they were last time out, sitting in fourth just a point is the gap between them and second.

Galway meanwhile also have form on their side as they travel to Ulster, unbeaten in their last three they were strong to topple Monaghan in a six point win last weekend, this will be a tough test against a quality side.

Kerry V Roscommon, Saturday March 18th, Austin Stack Park, 7:30pm

Kerry will look for a win this weekend to put any relegation doubts behind them, as Roscommon are bidding to reach the final.

Tyrone edged their contest with Kerry last weekend, giving the Kingdom their third loss in the competition, in Tralee last time out they defeated a battling Armagh and will hope for the same this weekend.

Meanwhile the Rossies will have Connacht Neighbours Galway to worry about as they bid for a spot in the final, they have looked strong but defeat to Mayo last weekend might have knocked them in the pursuit for that spot.

Monaghan V Tyrone, Sunday March 19th, Clones, 1:45pm

An all Ulster affair in Clones on Sunday as both teams are at risk of facing the chop in Div 1.

Monaghan sit in seventh spot and will be bidding for victory to keep their long standing record intact in this division, coming into their last tie they had two wins on the spin giving them hope of getting out of the bottom half, but Galway proved too strong, they need a win this weekend.

Tyrone sit just above them and a bruising over Kerry in Omagh last weekend but they will need another win this weekend if they are to retain their status in the division, or face a real sweat going into the final round.

Donegal V Mayo, Sunday March 19th, Ballybofey, 1:45pm

Top travels to Bottom in the other tie on Sunday, with Mayo the only team mathematically safe from relegation.

A loss in this tie for Donegal and they will be feeling the pinch at the foot of the table, just one win which came over Kerry, they need a big performance to stay up.

With three wins and two draws from five matches Mayo are the front runners at the top of the table, a win and they will pretty much secure a spot in the final.
