Limerick put a big dent in Wicklow’s promotion hopes when they defeated them by seven points in Baltinglass. It’s now two wins from two for Graham Shine’s side. In the group’s other game Derry defeated Kilkenny to secure their first win of the campaign. It was another battling performance from the Cats but another defeat.
Wicklow 0-08 Limerick 3-06
Limerick made it two wins from two to move level on points with leaders Leitrim in Group B, with a seven point win away to Wicklow this afternoon.
Wicklow opened the scoring but a goal from Anna O’Dea in the third minute put Limerick ahead by two. They went on to hold a four point lead at the break.
Cathy Mee and Claire O’Meara added goals to their side’s tally. Wicklow tried hard to get back into the game but were unable to do so.
Kilkenny 1-08 Derry 1-18
Derry picked up their first points of the campaign in the bottom of the table clash with Kilkenny. Two points from the boot of Kate Purcell gave Kilkenny an early lead but once Derry took a hold on the game the Cats couldn’t find a way back.
Annie McLoughlin’s goal for the Ulster county saw them go in at half-time ahead by seven points 1-09 to 0-07.
Derry made a good start to the second half but a goal from Jessica Scriven in the 53rd minute cut the gap to five. The Cats battled hard but Derry held on for their first win.
