Preview: Lidl NFL Division 3 Round 6

Three teams are in a relegation battle in Division 3 with three points separating the bottom side from 6th place. Bottom side Sligo travel to Wexford. The Yeats County have yet to record a win so far. Sunday might be a good time to pick up their first 3pts. Louth travel to take on Down just one point ahead of Antrim. A win for the Wee County would definitely condemn Antrim and Sligo to Division 4.

Wexford v Sligo, Sun 17th Mar, St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy, 12pm

Wexford welcome bottom side Sligo to Enniscorthy on Sunday. Despite losing to Roscommon in their last game Lizzie Kent’s side will play Division 3 football next year due to results in other games.

Sligo are two points behind 7th place Antrim and with two games to go they need to pick up wins if they are to avoid the drop to Division 4. The Yeats County have picked up just one point so far.

In their last game they were defeated by Antrim in a bottom of the table clash. Wexford have two wins this year and will be hoping to record their third win on Sunday.

Clare v Antrim, Sun 17th Mar, St. Joseph’s Doora Barefield, 12.30pm (Live Commentary)

Ten points separate these two sides in the table. Clare are pushing for promotion while Antrim are trying to avoid the drop back down to Division 4.

The Saffrons picked up a vital win in their last game against Sligo. It was their first win of the campaign and it put them just one point behind Louth.

Clare came from behind to secure a win over Louth in their last game. Fidelma Marrinan scored 1-03 for the Banner County in the latter stages. The last time these two sides met was in the All-Ireland Intermediate semi-final in which Clare emerged victorious. Will Antrim avenge that result or will Clare secure promotion?

Down v Louth, Sun 17th Mar, Burren, 2pm

With two games remaining Down have a slim chance of gaining promotion while Louth are just one point above the relegation spot.

After a slow start in which they lost their opening two games, Down have recorded three wins from three as they moved up to 3rd in the table. Louth have been unfortunate in some of their games this year; letting victory slip from their grasp.

In their last game the Wee County lost to Clare while Down had a fine win away to Offaly. A win for Louth will consolidate their place in Division 3 for next year, with one game remaining.

Roscommon v Offaly, Sun 17th Mar, St. Croans. 2pm

Roscommon are on the brink of gaining promotion to Division 2. Offaly lie in 4th place in the table and will definitely play Division 3 football next year.

The Rossies have recorded four wins and a draw in the division. They have been in excellent form and a win against Offaly will clinch their promotion. In their last game they had a five point win over Wexford.

Offaly lost to Down in their last game. They’ll be disappointed with how the game went. The Rossies would love to get promoted on home turf, while Offaly would like to make them wait another week.
