Preview: Allianz NFL Div 3 Week 5

In Division 3 Fermanagh will be looking to boost their chances at appearing in a final, as too will Down with both level on points, while Tipperary, Longford and Antrim are in a relegation dog fight.

Fermanagh v Tipperary, Sunday March 5th, Ederney, 1pm

Fermanagh will be looking to boost their chances of making a league decider if they can topple strugglers Tipperary.

Fermanagh have been a surprise package, winning three of their four matches so far, currently in second they are in good shape to be in a league final this year.

Tipperary have struggled to gather just one point from four games, Conor Sweeney’s season-ending knee injury has certainly hurt their chances, but their backline has not been strong either as relegation could be on the cards.

Cavan v Down, Sunday March 5th, Kingspan Breffni, 2pm

Leaders Cavan look to extend their unbeaten streak to five games as Ulster neighbours Down are bidding for a spot in the final.

Cavan have been very impressive and show no signs of slowing down especially on their home patch, with looking so strong they need to finish on a high note to not show any signs of complacency.

Down will also be happy with their start to the season, they have had tough battles but also showed their determination to come from behind to beat the likes of Antrim and Westmeath.

Westmeath v Antrim, Sunday March 5th, TEG Cusack Park, 2pm

Westmeath need a win this weekend to boost their chances of promotion as Down slowed their progression last weekend, while Antrim are struggling at the other end.

Westmeath will be looking to claim a win having faltered last time out, they have been a strong side but the others above them have the edge but it’s far from over, this game is crucial.

Antrim are just one place above the relegation zone, but The Saffrons have been a competitive side again should show it here on Sunday, it would boss their hopes of survival if they can get a result.

Longford v Offaly, Sunday March 5th, Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, 2pm

This is a must win game for Offaly if they’re to be one of the many sides challenging for promotion, while bottom placed Longford are not down and out just yet.

Longford have had a tough run so far in the league, but a draw with Tipperary last time out could give them a boost going into this tie.

With consecutive defeats to Westmeath and Cavan, Offaly are out of form but not out of the race, they are at the back ready to make a dart but a loss here and they’ve fallen at the next hurdle.
