Roundup: D2 Allianz Football League

Derry are the big winners this weekend finishing top of the pile after Round 3 along with being the only side to pick up full points as Meath v Down; and Roscommon v Clare both ended in draws.

Derry 1-13 Cork 0-7

Derry made it three wins out of three in an impressive home performance beating Cork by quite the margin on a 1-13 to 0-7 score-line.

Unfortunately for Cork they never looked like threatening the in-form Ulster side. Trailing at half time 0-5 to 0-3, this was as close as the contest got as Derry opened up their lead by notching 1-4 to no reply in the opening stages of the second half. At this stage losing by nine points, it was always going to be a tough task for the Rebels.

Derry now sit top of Division 2 having claimed all six points to date, while Cork's slow start to the season continues with the one point on the board so far.

Roscommon 0-9 Clare 0-9

The points were shared after a tough contest in Dr. Hyde Park. As Ireland is being battered by a rough storm both sides may be pleased to have today's encounter finished and a point in the bag.

The Rossies went in at half time leading by the slimmest margin on a 0-6 to 0-5 score-line, with the pressure on Clare to deal with the conditions and try to take something from this match.

The start of the second half saw the home side stretch their lead to three points, a strong lead all things considered.

Clare fought back late on with three late unanswered points leaving both sides to share the spoils.

Anthony Cunningham and his men could be unhappy after leading the match for the majority. This being the first points they have dropped they will be looking to bounce back next time out.

Clare can be happy yet they will be looking to turn some of these draw matches into victories if they are to challenge at the very top.

Meath 2-6 Down 2-6

Both sides picked up their first point of this year's campaign in what was a very good opening half spectacle but as the game went on the quality and scoring diminished and finished with a draw.

It was a relatively high scoring opening half with each side finding the back of the net only for the opposition to go down the field and answer with a goal of their own.

In what was great viewing for the neutrals but massively frustrating for the fans and management. Robin Clarke and Jason Scully found the net for Meath and Down's Andrew Gilmore and Pat Havern netting the replies.

The sides went in at the break with Down leading 2-6 to Meaths 2-3

The Royal County raised the white flag three times in the second half - all from free kicks. Shane Walsh with one and Jordan Morris picking up the other two, the only scores during the second period bringing the sides level for the afternoon.

Although against the conditions Down will be terribly disappointed to not have made more advantage of their half time lead.

Both sides have now gotten their first point of the year and will hope this will lead to more points down the line.

Galway V Offaly

Due to an Orange weather warning for Galway their match against Offaly was postponed and will be played at a later date.
