Preview: Lidl NFL Division 4 Round 7

While Fermanagh and Leitrim have already secured their place in the Division 4 semi-finals four other teams battle it out for the remaining two spots.

Leitrim travel to Longford on Sunday in what is a massive game for the home county. After losing to Wicklow last weekend they need to defeat Leitrim if they are to book a place in the semi-finals.

Limerick who are in 5th place take on 3rd place Carlow. Carlow just need a draw to secure a last four place while Limerick need to win and hope Leitrim defeat Longford. Wicklow can also make the semi-finals, needing Longford and Limerick to lose or draw.

Longford v Leitrim, Sun 3rd Mar, Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, 12pm

A huge game for Longford as they bid to secure a place in the Division 4 semi-finals. Leitrim have already booked their place in the last four but will want to pick up another three points.

Last weekend Longford lost out to Wicklow; two late Sinead McGettigan points sealed the win for the Garden County. It was disappointing for Longford. Leitrim had a good win away to Carlow.

Longford need to put in a big performance if they are to defeat Leitrim. They currently lie in 4th place but Wicklow and Limerick are also vying for a semi-final spot. It’s going to be an interesting Sunday.

Fermanagh v Derry, Sun 3rd Mar, Donagh, 2pm

Leaders Fermanagh have been excellent in the league so far. They’ve secured a semi-final spot and will want to go into that game on the back of another win.

Derry pickled up their first points of the campaign when they defeated bottom side Kilkenny last weekend. It was a performance and result the Oak Leaf County needed.

It’s going to be a big task for Derry, although they go into the game on the back of that fine win. They’ll really need to put in an excellent performance if they are to get anything out of this game.

Kilkenny v Wicklow, Sun 3rd Mar, MW Hire Dunmore, 2pm

Bottom side Kilkenny will not want to end the season pointless when they take on Wicklow on Sunday afternoon. The Cats have suffered six defeats so far.

Last weekend Kilkenny were beaten by Derry. Wicklow had a big win, defeating Longford in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. This result leaves them in with a chance of claiming a place in the semi-finals. They need to win and hope Leitrim and Carlow do them a favour.

It doesn’t look good for Kilkenny when you look at their results. They have lost all their games and with Wicklow boosted by that result last weekend, it looks like a seventh defeat for the Cats.

Limerick v Carlow, Sun 3rd Mar, Feohanagh/Castlemahon GAA, 2pm

A huge game for the home side and one they need to win. By the time they take to the field against Carlow they’ll know if they are in with a chance of a semi-final spot.

Last weekend Limerick were defeated at home by leaders Fermanagh. Carlow had been going well of late but suffered defeat at the hands of second place Leitrim last weekend.

Carlow are in a good position with score difference but will need a result to really secure a place in the last four.
