Preview: Lidl NFL Div 1 Week 5

Leaders Kerry welcome Meath to Brosna this afternoon in what is a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland Final which the Royal County won. Down in Dungarvan on Sunday afternoon third place Waterford, entertain second place Galway.

Kerry v Meath, Sat 25th Feb, Brosna, 2pm

It’s a repeat of the All-Ireland Final, in Brosna this afternoon. Kerry currently top the table with four wins from four, while Meath lie sixth on four points.

The Kingdom have certainly signaled their intentions for the year. Last weekend they were impressive as they defeated Dublin by 11 points. They’ll hope to make it five wins from five against Meath and gain revenge for the All-Ireland Final.

Meath have had an indifferent campaign. They drew with Galway in their second game but lost to Mayo by three points last weekend. They’ll want to bounce back against Kerry.

Dublin v Mayo, Sat 25th Feb, DCU St. Clare’s, 2pm

Two sides that have enjoyed some good battles over the years. Mayo picked up their first win last weekend, with three points to spare over Meath.

After their titanic battle with Cork a few weeks back, Dublin fell to a heavy defeat away to Kerry last weekend and will want to get back to winning ways against Mayo.

A win for either side is important at different ends of the table. Mayo will certainly want to move away from the bottom.

Cork v Donegal, Sun 26th Feb, Mallow, 2.30pm

Donegal are rooted to the bottom of the table with no points registered. They travel to Leeside in the hope of finally getting off the mark.

Cork are on four points but have been involved in two classic games in their last two games but lost both by just one point. They’ll be hoping their luck changes in Mallow on Sunday afternoon.

For Donegal, they’ve battled in games but when they’ve had chances they’ve failed to put them away. They’ll want to put in a good performance against the Rebel County and hope they get something out of the game.

Waterford v Galway, Sun 26th Feb, Dungarvan, 1pm

After a slow start Waterford sit third in the table and a win against Galway would move them on level points with the Tribeswomen.

Last weekend the Deise defeated bottom side Donegal in Letterkenny. They’ve scored goals in all their games so far so Galway will be aware of that.

Galway are unbeaten in the league and are two points behind leaders Kerry. They staged a comeback last weekend to claim a narrow win over Cork.
