Preview: Lidl NFL Div 2 Week 5

Leaders Armagh will hope to make it five wins from five when they welcome second place Laois to the Athletic Grounds this afternoon while Roscommon still await their first points of the campaign and will hope that changes when they travel to Cavan.

Westmeath v Tyrone, Sun 26th Feb, TEG Cusack Park, 2pm

There are just three points between these two sides with Westmeath ahead of Tyrone in the table. The Ulster County currently lie in 7th in the table and are just three points ahead of bottom side Roscommon.

Last weekend Westmeath overcame their neighbours Roscommon in a tight affair in Kiltoom. They had narrowly lost out to Cavan in their previous game.

After winning their opening game against Roscommon, Tyrone have lost their last three games. Last weekend they lost heavily to their Ulster rivals Armagh. They’ll want to stop their losing streak in Mullingar.

Monaghan v Tipperary, Sun 26th Feb, Magheracloone, 2pm

Tipperary are third in the table, level on points with Laois and three points behind leaders Armagh. They’ll hope to keep the pressure on those two when they travel to Monaghan.

Monaghan lie 6th in the table, score difference separates themselves and Tyrone. They lost to their neighbours Cavan last weekend by one point and will hope to bounce back against Tipp.

Tipp lost out to Laois last weekend. Laois got a point in stoppage time to earn a dramatic win and inflict a first defeat on Tipp.

Cavan v Roscommon, Sun 26th Feb, Kingspan Breffni Park, 2pm

Having lost their opening two games, Cavan have recorded wins in their last two games. With narrow victories over Westmeath and Monaghan.

Last weekend Cavan had to hold off a Monaghan comeback to claim a one point win over their neighbours. Roscommon are currently bottom of the table on no points and would like that to change.

Last weekend the Rossies lost out to Westmeath. They have battled in games but have been unable to get any reward.

Armagh v Laois, Sun 26th Feb, Athletic Grounds, 4pm

It’s a top of the table clash in Armagh with the meeting of leaders Armagh and second place Laois. Armagh have recorded four wins from four and will hope they get another win at home.

Last weekend Laois grabbed a dramatic win away to Tipperary. Erone Fitzpatrick with the winning score in stoppage time. They’ve lost just one this year; a heavy defeat to Westmeath.

Armagh have impressed so far. Last weekend they defeated their Ulster rivals and neighbours Tyrone by 15 points. Laois’ defence will need to hold firm.
