Roundup: Lidl NFL Division 4 Round 4

Eimear Smyth was once again in inspirational form as Fermanagh defeated Leitrim in the division’s top of the table clash. Smyth’s first half goal proved to be the difference as the Erne County moved to the top of the table. Carlow moved up to third in the table with a comprehensive win over bottom side Kilkenny.

Fermanagh 1-09 Leitrim 0-09

Eimear Smyth’s first half goal proved decisive as Fermanagh moved to the top of Division 4 with a three point win over Leitrim. 

Leitrim made a good start to the game but Fermanagh were back in it with points from Smyth and Blaithín Bogue. The sides were level twice after that. Smyth then kicked 1-01 to give the Erne County a 1-05 to 0-05 lead at the break.

Smyth was once again in superb form and three pointed frees extended Fermanagh’s lead to six points in the 45th minute. Leitrim tried to get back into the game but couldn’t as they fell to their first defeat of the campaign. 

Carlow 3-13 Kilkenny 0-00

Carlow moved up to third in the table with a comprehensive win over Kilkenny. The damage was done in the first half as Carlow held a 3-08 to 0-00 lead at the break.

Roisin Bailey got Carlow’s first goal and it set them on their way for this big win. Emma Coogan and Sara Doyle added further goals in the first half.

Carlow added five points to their tally after the break but were able to keep Kilkenny scoreless. 

Limerick 2-07 Longford 2-07

Limerick maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a draw at home to Longford in UL. It’s a second draw for both sides.

First half goals from Andrea O’Sullivan and Cathy Mee had Limerick ahead by three at the interval 2-03 to 0-06.

Midway through the second half Longford were ahead by one point when they found the back of the net twice. Neither side could find a winner as they earned a share of the spoils.

Wicklow 1-08 Derry 2-04

Wicklow earned their first win of the league campaign with a one point win over Derry in Aughrim. It leaves Derry still looking for their first point.

Sinead McGettigan found the back of the net in the 21st minute to help Wicklow to a two point lead at the break – 1-04 to 1-02.

Derry went ahead by one point but two late points for the Garden County saw them claim a narrow win.
