Roundup: Lidl NFL Division 4 Round 2

Performance of the weekend has to go to Carlow. They were down by 14 points at half-time against a good Fermanagh side in Fenagh. Cliodhna Ní She scored the equalising goal for them right at the end. Leitrim made it two wins from two with three points to spare over Wicklow in Ballinamore.

Carlow 2-10 Fermanagh 2-10

Carlow staged a remarkable comeback to claim a point against Fermanagh in Fenagh. Aided with a strong win in the second half they came from 14 points down  at half-time to draw with the Erne County.

Played in terrible conditions Fermanagh used the elements to their advantage. They scored two goals and eight points while keeping Carlow scoreless.

The second half belonged to Carlow as they outscored Fermanagh 2-10 to 0-02. Right at the end a free from Cliodhna Ní She was adjudged to have crossed the line and Carlow earned a dramatic point. 

Kilkenny 2-01 Longford 4-09

Longford bounced back from their opening day defeat to Fermanagh to claim victory away to a battling Kilkenny side. Niamh Brady scored three goals for Pat Tiernan’s side. 

Two goals from Brady and points from Ella O’Reilly and Kate Shannon gave Longford a 2-02 to 0-01 lead at the break.

Ruby Roche and Cailinn Moore scored goals for Kilkenny but they were cancelled out by goals from Brady and Edel Sheedy for Midlanders. 

Leitrim 4-06 Wicklow 0-15

Leitrim made it two wins from two in Division 4 but Wicklow made them work hard for this win in Ballinamore.

Wicklow scored the opening point of the game but Leitrim replied with a goal from Elise Bruen. Although they’d a penalty saved, Leitrim added on two more goals through Leah Fox and Vivienne Egan. The half-time score was 3-03 to 0-05 in favour of Jonny Garrity’s side.

Midway through the second half Wicklow cut the gap to three points but that was as close as they were to get to Leitrim. Fox grabbed a second goal late on as Leitrim claimed another win/

Limerick 1-08 Derry 0-04

Limerick picked up their first win in Division 4 with seven points to spare over Derry in Doon on Saturday night. 

It was a tight opening before Limerick got the only goal of the game in the 16th minute through Fiona Bradshaw. That goal helped them to a 1-05 to 0-03 lead at the break.

Scores were at a premium in the second half. Limerick added on three more points to their tally while Derry could only raise the white flag once.
