Roundup: Lidl NFL Division 4 Semi-Finals

Both Division 4 semi-finals had pulsating endings as last gasp goals saw Limerick and Carlow book their place in the Division 4 Final and also gain promotion to Division 3.

Iris Kennelly scored the decisive goal in Limerick’s win over Leitrim while Maeve O’Neill scored right at the end to give Carlow a one point win over Fermanagh.

Leitrim 1-11 Limerick 2-10

Iris Kennelly scored a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time to help Limerick advance to the Division 4 Final and also gain promotion to Division 3.

It had looked like Leitrim had done enough to win the game when Muireann Devanney scored a goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time but there was time for more drama.

Limerick had held a three point lead at the break – 0-08 to 0-05. Deborah Murray scored Limerick’s first goal to put them ahead by four. Leitrim were behind by two when Devanney grabbed the goal but the game wasn’t over then.

Fermanagh 1-10 Carlow 2-08

Maeve O’Neill’s goal with the last kick of the game saw Carlow book their place in the Division 4 Final and also gain promotion to Division 3.

There was very little between in the early exchanges in the first half. Blaithin Bogue scored a goal in the 19th minute to give the Erne County a three point lead. A free from Eimear Smyth before the break gave them a four point lead.

Carlow drew level with a goal from Rachel Sawyer in the 35th minute. They took the lead in the 37th minute and were two ahead minutes later. Fermanagh went back in front and were two ahead with the final whistle approaching but there was a dramatic ending.
