Kerry put in an excellent performance to claim the Division 1 title with a fine win over Galway while an Aimee Mackin hat-trick helped Armagh to the Division 2 title with five points to spare over Laois.
Division 1 Final
Kerry 5-11 Galway 1-10
Goals from Niamh Ní Chonchúir (2), Hannah O’Donoghue, Siofra O’Shea and Louise Ní Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh saw Kerry with their first Division 1 title since 1991. It’s also back to back titles for the Kingdom after they claimed the Division 2 title last year.
Kerry got their first goal after 10 minutes of play and another five minutes later as they asserted their superiority. They held a 2-5 to 0-4 lead going in at the break.
Ní Chonchuir got her second goal of the game as Kerry continued to be clinical in front of the posts inside the opening minutes of the second half. They were by 16 points minutes later as Galway couldn’t contain them. Kate Slevin scored a consolation goal for Galway from the penalty spot before O’Shea grabbed a fifth goal to cap off a superb Kerry performance.
Division 2 Final
Armagh 4-09 Laois 2-10
The dynamic Aimee Mackin scored 3-3 as Armagh claimed the Division 2 title and made a return to Division 1 for the first time since 2017.
Mackin grabbed her hat-trick within a six minute spell inside the opening 10 minutes of the game. Niamh Coleman had scored their first goal after Sarah Ann Fitzgerald had pointed for Laois in the first minute.
Mo Nerney put away a penalty in the 28th minute for Laois as Armagh held a 43 to 1-5 lead going in at half-time. Credit to Laois they battled throughout. Laura Nerney scored their second goal in the 42nd minute to cut the gap to three points but Armagh replied with five points in a row. Laois hit late points but Armagh had done enough.
