Murphy and Cobh part ways

Darren Murphy and his backroom staff have left Cobh Ramblers after the club released a statement saying they had “amicably agreed to part ways.”

In the statement, Cobh thanked Murphy and his team for their “integrity, love for the club, their very hard work, and their consistent desires to improve performances and results.”

The Cobh board will now begin to appoint a manager on an interim basis in the coming days, while they search for a permanent successor.

The interim boss will take responsibilities for team matters ahead of the upcoming fixtures. The board wished Murphy all the best for the future.

The decision comes after last night’s 3-0 defeat at home to Wexford. The side haven’t won since beating Athlone 3-2 back in mid-April. Since then, they have lost six in their last eight. They sit in 8th place, four points ahead of Athlone Town.

They travel to their rivals Cork City next Friday night.
