Mallon swaps Blades for Bohs

Stephen Mallon will be part of Keith Long’s squad at Dalymount Park this season after agreeing terms with Bohemians today.

The 21 year old attacking player is no stranger to the league where he spent last season on loan at Derry City featuring 17 times for the Candystripes and finding the back of the net 3 times.

He was in the City side for their single outing in the Europa League last season but will be hoping for better results in the new look Europa Conference competition which Bohs will enter at the first qualifying round stage this summer.

The Belfast native represented both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland at underage level, and uniquely has played in some far flung locations in his short career when spending the 2019 season on loan with Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

Welcoming Mallon to Dalymount Park, manager Keith Long spoke to the club’s website: “Having lost two key wide players in Danny Grant and Kris Twardek in recent months, wide areas are a position where we have been looking to strengthen since those departures.

“In Stephen, we have an exciting winger who will give us options on both wings – be it on his natural side on the left or as a reverse winger on the right.

“He is young, hungry to prove himself, and this is a big season for him. He knows the league having been on loan at Derry last season and I believe he will prove to be a key signing for us.”

Boh’s 2021 squad so far:

Goalkeepers: James Talbot, Stephen McGuinness. Defenders: Anto Breslin, Ciarán Kelly, James Finnerty, Rob Cornwall, Rory Feely, Tyreke Wilson. Midfielders: Ali Coote, Conor Levingston, Dawson Devoy, Jack Moylan, Keith Buckley, Keith Ward, Promise Omochere, Ross Tierney, Stephen Mallon. Strikers: Georgie Kelly, Thomas Oluwa.
