LOI FD Preview: Waterford V Cobh Ramblers

Waterford will hope to finish the season on a high as they begin their home stretch against Cobh Ramblers. (Kick Off 7:45pm).

The Blues come into the game in flying form after stunning Dundalk in the FAI Cup Quarter-finals before beating Bray Wanderers in league action last week. The club will hop to capitalise on that buzz and finish the season strongly.

While they are only one win away from the Aviva, it is easy to forget that Waterford are still in the hunt for promotion but will have to negotiate the play-offs which will be as difficult as ever.

Cobh on the other hand, come into the game off the back of a 6th Munster Senior Cup triumph which has provided the club with some much needed silverware for their centenary anniversary.

Despite this, Shane Keegan’s side have been hampered by inconsistency all season and will hope to string some strong performances before the end of the season.

Recent History

Waterford have won all three previous games between the sides this season with the Rams failing to register a victory since 2017.

Thoughts From the Dugout

Waterford boss Danny Searle insists his side continue to focus on the league despite the looming FAI Cup semi-final.

“We’re focussed on the league. We have a couple of games left and we’re looking to continue our good form coming into the Cup semi final and play-offs.

“We’ve trained well this week and it’s another chance for points on the board. We’ve five league games to play and they’re chances for players to play their way into the team.”

Team News

Waterford could be without Brian Murphy and Eddie Nolan who remain injury doubts. Tunmise Sobowale and manager Danny Searle continue to serve suspension. However, the Blues will be able to welcome back Yasine En-Neyah from a match ban.

As for Cobh, goalkeeper Sean Barron and attacker Conor Drinan are the only injury concerns.

Kick-off from the RSC is at 7.45 with live updates available on FinalWhistle.ie
