Keenan drafted into Republic of Ireland WNT squad

Shelbourne defender Keeva Keenan has received a late call up to the Republic of Ireland Women’s squad, to replace the injured Jessicia Ziu.

Keenan joins up with the squad ahead of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Play-Off, the Shels defender has three caps to her name and will serve as cover for her ex-teammate at the Tolka Park club.

Ziu has been ruled out after picking up a knee injury at the weekend while playing for West Ham United in the WSL, as a result she will not join the camp on October 4th as scheduled.

The injuries are starting to pile up ahead of the crucial tie to guarantee passage to next year’s World Cup, Megan ConnollyRuesha Littlejohn, Ellen Molloy and Leanne Kiernan are all unavailable, adding more strain on Vera Pauw’s charges.
