Wexford impress with win over Cabo’
Wexford FC made it three wins from three over Cabinteely this season following an impressive second-half display in their 2-1 win tonight at Ferrycarrig Park.
Goals from Kyle Robinson and Jack Moylan came either side of Kieran Marty Waters’s equaliser as Cabo watched their playoff dreams slip away.
The visitors will be left with a sour taste in their mouths following tonight’s defeat. Pat Devlin’s side dominated the majority of the first-half and large parts of the second.
Keith Dalton will be wondering what could have been had any of his teammates latched on to the numerous pin-point corners he delivered in the first-half. While Wexford will have to thank goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran for making a flurry of saves in the opening 45.
After the break Cabo continued their dominance, again failing to convert any chances. Niall Barnes and Keith Dalton both missed early chances.
Right before the hour, Wexford finally got into motion. Conor Crowley whipped in a corner and found Kyle Robinson who headed home his seventh goal of the season.
Just three minutes after taking the lead a Dalton cross finally found a target. Kieran Marty Waters sent a bullet header past Jimmy Corcroan to equalise.
Despite the quick reply, Wexford looked like a reinvigorated side. The midfield and defence pressed aggressively and the front three looked more alive than they had in the first-half.
Two of that front three combined for the winner in the 68th minute. Jack Doherty hooked a cross over his shoulder straight into the feet of Jack Moylan. The Bohemians loanee touched the ball around the oncoming defender before smashing the ball into the back of the net.
Following Moylan’s goal, Cabinteely threw everything they had at Wexford. But Incredible defensive displays from Lorcan Fitzgerald and Kevin McEvoy helped ensure a surprising victory for the hosts.
Tonight’s defeat will be seen as a missed opportunity for Cabo as their late surge for a playoff place has taken a massive hit. For Ian Ryan’s side, the victory is nothing but a confidence booster and something that this squad can build upon for next season.

A win is vital for Cabo this evening if they are to make a late surge for the playoff places. As for Wexford, the story remains the same as it has been all season. A win won't do much for their league position but gathering wins will help Ian Ryan's side grow in confidence and build towards something better next season
Ian Ryan makes two changes to the Wexford starting 11 that lost to Bray last week. Thomas Considine and Daniel Dobbin make their first ever starts, replacing Paul Cleary and Paul Fox. Fionn McCaffrey gets the call up to the bench from the under 19s
The visitors are unchanged in their starting 11, however Ben Feeney replaces an injured Sean McDonald on the bench
