Bohs best in Longford
Bohemians left Bishopsgate with all three points, as goals from Liam Burt and Ali Coote handed the visitors a 2-nil victory over Longford Town in this SSE Airtricity League Premier Division encounter this evening
Bohemians struck first on 26 minutes. Tyreke Wilson played a good ball from the left into the path of midfielder Liam Burt in a central position, he took one touch to set himself up, before firing a superb 25-yard shot beyond the despairing dive of Town Keeper Mick Kelly to put the visitors ahead.
The Dubliners sealed the win in the 74th minute. Coote put Bohs two-nil up with a fine finish. Good play by Andy Lyons resulted in Ross Tierney passing to Coote and he made no mistake from 10 yards out.
The opening opportunity of this tied came the way of Longford on the quarter-hour mark. Dylan Grimes curled in a free kick from the right that was headed over by Town striker Rob Manley from 16-yards out.
Four minutes later, the visitors had their first shot on the Town goal, but Wilson fired his 25-yard free kick well over the bar.
The Dubliners came close to taking the lead in the 24th minute. A cross from the right by Coote was side-footed over from just six yards out by Tierney.
Bohemians took the lead on 26 minutes when Wilson played a good ball from the left into the path of midfielder Liam Burt in a central position, he took one touch to set himself up, before firing a superb twenty-five yard shot beyond the despairing dive of Kelly to put the visitors ahead.
The ‘Gypsies’ nearly doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute. Dawson Devoy delivered a dangerous cross from the left that narrowly missed the head of towering striker Georgie Kelly, and also the sliding Tierney at the back post.
Bohemians came close to rattling the Town net a second time in the 62nd minute when Coote whipped in a free kick from the right that picked out striker Georgie Kelly, but his twelve-yard header produced a magnificent save from Mick Kelly.
Bohs defender James Finnerty almost scored an own goal on 72 minutes, as he back-headed a Dylan Grimes free kick just wide of the back post.
Keith Long’s troops sealed the three points and the win on seventy-four minutes, with Coote scoring with a fine finish. Good play by Lyons resulted in Ross Tierney passing to Coote and he made no mistake from 10 yards out.
