Wexford come from behind to draw with Treaty
Treaty Utd are still without a win this season after they played out a score draw away to Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park.
The Limerick side took the lead in the 38th minute when Enda Curran slotted home a penalty. Just one minute after the interval Wexford drew level through midfielder Darragh Levingston.
Both sides had chances to claim a winner but were unable to get that vital second goal.
The first half was held up for 14 minutes due to a problem with the floodlights. When play resumed it took both sides a while to get into the game.
A free from Lee Devitt in the 16th minute found Andy Spain at the back post but he couldn’t get proper contact on it.
In the 25th minute Ben Lynch’s cross met the head of Danny Furlong but he directed it over the bar. Minutes later Lynch cut inside before hitting a fine strike but it got a deflection off Spain for a corner.
For all their pressure the home side found themselves behind in the 38th minute. Keeper Charlie Heffernan was adjudged to have brought Stephen Christopher down in the box. Curran made no mistake with the spot-kick.
Wexford were back in the game one minute into the second half. James Crawford’s pinpoint cross found Levingston and he powerfully headed past Treaty netminder Shane Hallahan.
The visitors had a chance in the 50th minute to restore their lead; Christopher played the ball to Conor Barry and he found Curran but he somehow hit his effort wide when in front of the goal.
The home side began to get on top. In the 55th minute Furlong found himself in a good position but lost his footing as he hit the ball.
In the final quarter the game opened up with both sides pressing and forcing corners. In the 84th minute Ben Lynch put in a fantastic tackle to deny Spain who was in a dangerous position after the ball was played to him by sub Will Armshaw.
In stoppage time Wexford had chances but were denied by Hallahan. He pulled off two excellent saves to deny Aaron Dobbs and Ethan Boyle.
