Match Report
A first half masterclass from the Blues helped them move a tad closer to leaders Galway as Waterford through six different scorers put seven past a sorry Treaty United. Christopher Conn-Clarke opened the scoring with a great left footed effort finding the far right corner to give the hosts the lead. Conn-Clarke turned provider for the second pulling back towards the penalty spot for Shane Griffin who slotted home for the hosts second. Giles Phillips rose highest from a corner to make it three just four minutes later before another corner goal this time on the second phase from Sobowale made it four nil to the hosts just two minutes after the third. Ronan Coughlan was not kept off the scoresheet too long though, grabbing his first and Waterford's fifth just before the break. Coughlan being the fifth different scorer of the half. Coughlan was next to turn provider with a slick cut back to Shane Griffin once again sitting in space in the box to net his second of the night 10 minutes into the start of the second half as Waterford started to ring the changes. Mansfield, Nolan and Oluwa all came on before the hour mark as the Blues looked to rest the stars before a trip to Kerry on Monday afternoon. The game did not have too much action in the final half hour as the result was set in stone but a late penalty for Oluwa, or a missed penalty and rebound from the Blues number nine made it seven heaven for the hosts. As mentioned, Waterford now face bottom team Kerry FC in their first trip to Mounthawk Park on Monday whilst Treaty need to put this past them quick and regroup as they face a home tie with Wexford in Limerick.Seventh Heaven for Waterford
